Coursework: Statement of Intent

The interesting and fun-filled criminal thriller Stitches Of Deceit explores the mystery surrounding the passing of well-known clothing designer Ant Russio Diaz, a leader in his industry. The show aims to captivate viewers with a compelling story that blends elements of suspense, mystery, and human drama, leaving them wondering what will happen next. It also emphasises the intense competitiveness in the fashion industryI want to employ gloomy backgrounds and settings in my three-minute video to draw your attention to the characters on screen. This would maintain the audience's attention on the continuously shifting plot, which would be advantageous for viewers because it would increase their retention rate because the show would feel highly new.

In relation to my magazine 3 minute TV crime drama and TV listing magazine called ' xyz time ' would be used as a key method of promotion in order to promote the TV crime drama as promotion through the print industry would most likely bring a new range of stakeholders such as viewers and maybe an older generation that is more subject to read newspapers and magazines as it is quite a rather outdated source of consumed media as the younger generation would be more excited at the fact of a new fun filled TV dram that included avid and high in demand streetwear rather than a paper back interview that would be unusual form of media for a young people as most if not all forms of consumed media from Gen Z would and has been online sources which would like back to radio because of its outdated form which is the same as print there numbers are constantly on a steady decline and could be consider dead in the next 10 - 15 years based on the constant change in the media industries.

In reference to Vladimir Propp's character theory, which states that there would be a killer/villain and a puzzled hero. This would keep the audience engaged in the programme since, initially, the wrong person gets blamed because they were framed. This implies that the killer remains at large throughout the performance, keeping the public in the dark until they commit a deadly mistake. Our utilisation of unique and compelling characters makes the TV crime drama instantly recognisable. We created a diverse cast of individuals, each with distinct goals and personal secrets, which explains why there is so much secrecy in the fashion industry.

The characters contribute to the story by their own experiences and hardships. For example, an inspirational and successful designer with a dark history is killed off in a way that appears senseless to onlookers. In the production and editing of my three-minute video, sound design is also crucial because the conversation is deliberately selected to highlight specific character attributes, actions, and secrets. Additionally, it will be utilised to illustrate the rigidity of the fashion industry, making it understandable to both aficionados of the style and those who are not familiar with it, thereby appealing to a huge portion of the show's viewership. In particular, the use of silence in Stiches of Deceit is strong because it aligns with the meaning of the title.

Because it would force the audience to break convention, it can also be employed to increase tension and suspense.  For example, when Jude chooses to confront Mya, who was set up to kill Ant, or when a horrifying truth comes to light. The show also challenges outdated, sexist ideas about fashion by acknowledging the influence of ethnicity, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic background on women's experiences, particularly in the fashion industry, which is expertly emphasised. Mya Russio is a character that doesn't conform to the stereotype of a person in the fashion industry, but she plays a significant part in the show anyway. It draws attention to how her abilities, self-assurance, and distinct style defy traditional notions of beauty. Which heavily subverts Van Zoonen's theory that says women are limited to secondary roles.

OLD

Stiches Of Deceit is an engrossing and fascinating criminal thriller that digs into the mystery surrounding the death of Ant Russio Diaz, a prominent apparel designer at the top of his field and profession. The show, highlights the sheer level competition in the fashion industry, and the show attempts to capture fans with a gripping narrative that mixes together elements of suspense, intrigue, and human drama that should always leave you wondering what happens next. In my three minute extract i plan to use dull backgrounds and surroundings which really make you pay attention to the characters on screen. This would help the audience stay focused on the constantly changing plot which would be very beneficial for a viewers as it keeps there retention rate as the show would feel very refreshing. As related to Vladimir Propp's character theory where there will be a confused hero and killer/villain. This would make the show so interested because at first the blamed is put on the wrong person as they where framed, which means the killer is still on the lose throughout the show without the audience knowing until they make a fatal error. With our use of compelling interesting characters it easily makes the Tv crime drama very identifiable from first glance. We constructed a wide group of characters, each with unique motivations and secrets of their own which is the reason the fashion industry is filled with so much secrecy. The characters help into the narrative with their unique experiences and struggles, ranging from the ambitious proved designer with a hidden past suddenly gets murdered which seems unprovoked to all bystanders. The use of sound would also be key from the production and editing of my three minute extract as the dialogue will be carefully chosen to reveal character traits, there actions, and secrets. It will also be used to express the inflexible nature of the fashion industry, making it accessible to both fashion fans and people unfamiliar with the industry, which would it related to a large chunk of the shows audience. The use of Silence is just as strong as sounds, especially in Stiches of Deceit because it corresponds to the title's meaning. It can also be used to build tension and suspense because it would make the viewer unconformable.  such as when a Jude decides to confront a Mya who was framed for the killing of Ant or when a terrible fact is revealed. The show also reverts sexist old fashion views as they recognise that race, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status all have an impact on women's experiences especially in the fashion industry which is perfectly highlighted. Mya Russio is typically someone who doesn't not fit the normal description of someone in the fashion business but yet still having an important role in the show. It highlights her to her talents, confidence, and unique flair are included to challenge conventional beauty standards. Which heavily subverts Van Zoonen's theory that says women are limited to secondary roles.
